Location: 100 miles south of Albuquerque, 140 miles north of El Paso, or 25 miles south of Socorro via Interstate 25, then 11 miles west to the headquarters off Exit 124, at San Marcial.
Acreage: The ranch consists of approximately 10,450 deeded acres and 9,152 BLM lease acres, for a total of 19,602 acres, or 30.6 sections. The ranch is priced as a total ranching unit and not on a per-acre basis.

Improvements: The main house is a beautiful 5,000 sq. ft., two-story, five bedrooms, three-bath home. There is a large bunkhouse, garage, walk-in cooler, meat processing room, a new shop building and horse barn, working pens, and roping arena. East of headquarters, at Burro Springs, is a horse barn, pens, and an apple orchard.
Topography: The elevation varies from about 5800 on the south end to over 8000 on the west and north portions. The terrain varies from large draws to rolling gramma grass hills to mountains.
Vegetation: The most predominant grasses and browse consist of Blue gramma, Sideoats gramma, Hairy gramma, Sixweeks gramma, Tobosa, Sand dropseed, Oak, Apache Plume, and Mountain mahogany. The range is in excellent condition.
Precipitation: The average annual precipitation varies from 10 to 12 inches on the lower country to 12 to 14 inches on the north end.
Water: The majority of the ranch is watered by a very strong spring that is located just above the north boundary on USDA Forest Service property. The ranch has a water right on this spring that is registered with the State Engineer's Office. There are four wells on the ranch varying in depth from 100' to nearly 300'. There is a very extensive watering system in place that serves the entire ranch with a more than adequate supply and distribution of fresh and seasonal water for livestock and wildlife.
Wildlife: Perhaps the greatest asset of the Tubucka Ranch is its wildlife resource. The ranch is ideally located on the south end of the Magdalena Mountains, providing excellent habitat for such game species as Mule deer, Black bear, Rocky Mountain elk, antelope, Scaled quail, and Mourning dove. The ranch is also either permanent home or part-time home to an array of non-game species found in the transitional mountain ranges of New Mexico.
The transitional mountain ranges are those along the midline of the state-those which contain elements of the northern mountains, such as aspen, spruce, and fir, and elements of the southern mountains, such as walnut, hackberry, and Arizona alder. Areas that contain this diversity are often rich in wildlife. The Tubucka Ranch is no exception.
Of the many wildlife species present, Mule deer are typically of the greatest interest to people. Mule deer are abundant on the Tubucka Ranch. They occupy the open arid ridges, which are dotted with pinon/juniper. The ridges and associated canyons contain Mountain Mahogany and Apache Plume, which deer highly utilize as a food source. The south facing aspect of the ranch lends itself to year-round occupation by Mule deer. The numbers increase in some winters, as deer from higher elevations move into the area.
Comments: The Tubucka Ranch is an easily operated, yearlong ranch. Ranches with type of wildlife resource are becoming very difficult to find. The owners report that elk numbers are on the increase. Public access to the Tubucka Ranch is restricted.
