Location:
The ranch is located about 25 miles southwest of Magdalena, New Mexico. The ranch is accessed approximately 15 miles west of Magdalena, then south of U.S. Highway 60 about 8 miles on Socorro County road 28. Albuquerque is about a two hour drive away, Socorro is approximately forty-five minutes.

The small town of Magdalena provides services such as a grocery store, convenience store, motels, restaurants, service station, and post office. Magdalena public schools are K through 12. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the population of Magdalena is 913.

Socorro Municipal Airport serves the area with a 5,841' paved runway at an elevation of 4,875'.

The County was named for the community of Socorro, NM. Socorro County, with 6,626 square miles, ranks third in size among the state's 33 counties. The estimated population in 2004 was 18,177. This was an increase of 0.55% from the 2000 census.

The City of Socorro provides most major services including shopping, banking, dining, hardware, farm and ranch supplies, etc. and is home of New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology.

Acreage:
690± deeded, 30,000± U.S. Forest Service lease. The deeded acreage consists of 6 non-contiguous tracts. The house tract is the largest, being comprised of 360 acres. This tract is adjacent to, and borders, the National Forest Boundary. The remaining tracts are all in-holdings, inside of the National Forest Boundary; they consist of a 10 acre parcel, two 40 acre parcels, an 80 acre parcel, and 160 acre parcel.

Improvements:
The headquarters area is an especially scenic and private location with access controlled by the property owner. The home is a modern, spacious 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom modular with 2,250 square feet. Wildlife:
The Durfee Canyon Ranch is located in Game Management Unit 17, an area well-known among hunters for its trophy bull elk. Mule deer, black bear, antelope and turkey can also be found on the ranch. Elk are a common site on the ranch and can often be spotted right from the house.

Water:
There are three wells on the ranch, several earthen tanks and intermittent live water. Pipelines are used to deliver water to storage tanks and drinkers. The seller is in the process of expanding the water system.

Terrain:
Elevations vary from approximately 7,500' to 9,000'. The landscape is diverse; open grasslands, rolling hills, and Ponderosa Pine studded mountains and canyons are all found on the Durfee Canyon Ranch.

Vegetation:
The following make up the majority of the vegetation found on the ranch.
Grasses: Blue grama, Western wheatgrass, Pine dropseed, Sideoats, and Little Bluestem
Browse: Chamisa, Winterfat, and Mountain Mahogany.
Trees: Pinon, Juniper, Ponderosa Pine, Gamble Oak and Cottonwood

Carrying Capacity:
The Durfee Canyon Ranch is permitted for 267 animal units. The current grazing fee for the forest allotment is $1.32 per month, per animal unit.
